PHOTO SHOOTING IN OSTUNI

PUGLIA (ITALY)

Angela and Antonio are the key players of this photo shoot.
They are not yet married, but in some ways it’s as if they are.
Credibility comes in viewing a couple who have made a covenant, and my photos illustrate the lasting depth of their relationship.

The real opponent to the culmination of their love through marriage is the social situation created by the Italian government, whose decisions prevent more young people from finding a suitable permanent employment and the prospect to build a new family.
The courage Antonio demonstrated in having set apart this year in an unrewarding job to focus on starting his own business as a tattoo artist.

I was also very impressed by their decision to wear the t-shirts of the association Generazione Famiglia – Manif pour Tous for some of the pictures.
That association is committed to the freedom of opinion, defends the family and the rights of children.
The two quotes accompanying the photos are from the work of an English thinker lived one century ago: Gilbert Keith Chesterton.

Everything will be denied. Everything will become a creed.

It is a reasonable position to deny the stones in the street; it will be a religious dogma to assert them.
It is a rational thesis that we are all in a dream; it will be a mystical sanity to say that we are all awake.

Fires will be kindled to testify that two and two make four.
Swords will be drawn to prove that leaves are green in summer.

We shall be left defending, not only the incredible virtues and sanities of human life, but something more incredible still, this huge impossible universe which stares us in the face.
We shall fight for visible prodigies as if they were invisible.
We shall look on the impossible grass and the skies with a strange courage.

We shall be of those who have seen and yet have believed.

Many thanks for his friendly welcome to Tonino Zurlo of l’Ulivo che Canta, a craftsmanship laboratory surrounded by the white lime of Ostuni.
It was really interesting to have the privilege to see him at work.

ME: A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IN OSTUNI

The old town of Ostuni was, until the ’90s, a ghetto controlled by cigarette smugglers.
After dark there was a circuit of armored vehicles, headlights off, patrolling the streets of the region.
Not even the Italian police had access to the historic city center.
Since 1993 new anti-Mafia laws and military intervention have brought a new face to the city.
Following the interest of some British businessmen, Ostuni has seen the opening of the city’s first restaurants and tourist shops.
Now it is a renowned and thriving resort town.
Every two years the municipality “freely” distributes to citizens the lime needed to maintain the white surface on facades of buildings.

I studied post production techniques with Marianna Santoni, an Adobe Photoshop Certified Expert and Instructor and an unique characteristic of Luca Rajna Progetti Fotografici is to allow clients to select from a broad range of photographic and post production styles, including many types of analog film photography emulation.

For the service we provided at Ostuni, we chose a post production that would bring out the characteristic purity of the white lime coloring of the city, enhanced by bringing out the hot and cold contrast given in blue and brown shades.
To exemplify this, I want to propose some examples of alternative post production from presets in great demand today: mine, VSCO, Tribe Redleaf, Tribe Archipelago, Rooke & Hover, Alien Skin Exposure (ASE), Adovasio:
