These images were taken at Villa del Balbianello, in Lenno (Tremezzina), while I was working as a wedding, elopement or couple photographer.

Here I present an extensive gallery of images taken at the villa and along the surrounding stretch of Lake Como: from the villa’s most intimate corners to the famous wide landscapes, with the promontory and the views you will enjoy from this most famous of venues.
Villa del Balbianello is certainly the most famous villa on Lake Como, not only for its wonderful position but also for the Star Wars and James Bond sagas, and other films.
I have photographed many weddings here and have a strong working relationship with the villa’s staff. I know every angle, and the right time of day for the most striking images in the best light – both from experience and because I use dedicated apps that show me the exact position of the sun.
The images are developed with my dedicated Lario Lightroom Presets – Balbianello: I created this preset to preserve the finest natural colours and contrast of this part of Lake Como.

Weddings, elopements, couples: always at their best
One thing remains fundamental: the gardens of the villa cover a fairly large area, with many changes of level between ramps, terraces and slopes.
The photographer must know the location well, in order to reach the most photogenic spots of the villa quickly and without difficulty – including the lesser-known areas that few photographers have ever found.
Indeed, for the most spectacular shots, my shooting position will not always be close to where you are.
Villa del Balbianello is one of those places where knowing ‘the best light’ is certainly not enough on its own.

How to obtain the best images
Usually, the photographer tries to remain as discreet as possible during the proposal, and photographs everything else afterwards. At Villa del Balbianello, this way of working has its limits. A photographer who knows the villa well does not take that risk – only to find himself in difficulty later, unable to deliver the result you expect:
– the villa offers no real spots where the photographer can stay unnoticed;
– the framing cannot always be controlled: the style is candid, so the photographer’s expertise cannot be fully used to capture the moment at its best;
– unwanted objects and people end up in the frame almost every time, because the villa is nearly always crowded with visitors (the photoshoots with beautiful, wide, representative frames that you find online – not only on my site – are taken exclusively by booking the villa before or after opening hours);
– naturally, she cries – this happens very often – and the photoshoot that follows is taken with smudged make-up and a red nose.
Hardly the fine art of photography, wouldn’t you agree?
